Plieng pkah svay

In Cambodia, the month of may is called "mango rainy season", or in khmer Plieng pkah svay. It's the moment between dry and wet season, really hot with thunderstorms watering cracked soils.

The rainy season is coming day by day and people need to strengthen their house roof made with bamboo or sheet metal, not strong enough for big storms and winds.

Once we finished our plastic bottle boat we used it on the Mekong ! 5 people in it and floating as a real one ! We build another little one with kids help and they became knots professionals. Locals could use it during the rainy season.

The shredder is almost done but we are waiting for the plastic workers help. They are busy finishing the foundations of the new OBT school which is much larger and higher than the other one. It has to be done before the water rises, so we help them and stop the shredder for the moment while making concrete and filling sand trays.

OBT's projet is to create its own school with its own teachers, welcoming childrens all day long. For now they are going to the public school in the morning and have informatic, english and music lessons in the afternoon at OBT.

We'll start again with the shredder soon and hope to finish it quickly before the rainy season comes for real.

Here's some pictures.

We thought about the need to build the Precious Plastic machines and Chiro and finally decided to only do the shredder. Indeed the NGO is already working on different plastic projects by transforming the waste through plastic distillation to fuel and plastic-to-bricks. It wouldn't be relevant to add a third project which needs lots of energy and work. So we will focus on the shredder's finishes and improvement according to the NGO's attempts. The shredder is useful in the way that using the plastic flakes facilities the melting process and can upgrade the fuel and bricks production.

Chiro is soon going to be flooded, so we have to think about our departure and anticipate the future of our project. In may we also thought about the two places where we can build the project after: Kampong Chhnang with Pour l'Avenir d'un Enfant association or Koh Rong Samloem. We went to visit those places to meet our future partners.

In Mondulkiri we met a family from Bunong minority living in Cambodian mountains. Nor, a guide doing jungle treks asks us to help him to make his website. Here it is : https://bunongtrekcambodia.wixsite.com/bunongtrekcambodia

Thank you!
