September was for us the good moment to take a break and find the needed motivation for the upcoming months. Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia... Happy to discover other places in Asia but also to go back to the island to work !
Before coming back we wanted to pass by Chiro. The ride from Kampong Cham to Chiro was really different this time : we didn't ask to a tuk-tuk to bring us there but to a boat captain ! Well, with the rainy season the Mekong went that high that the village was floaded and the roads were drowned. We were completely amazed on this rowing boat and really happy to arrive and see our friends, families and all the kids we lived with during five months.
After one night it was time for us to go to Koh Rong Samloem, in good company ! We welcomed Thyda, Panha and Pana to our new home. A lot of khmers people don't have the opportunity to discover their country. These holidays made them cross a big part of Cambodia by bus and let them discover the sea for the first time.
They stayed 2 nights on the island and went back to Chiro after that. When they left, we finished the workshop and brought back all the necessary material from Sihanoukville to welcome Edgar (staying 3 months with us) in the best conditions.
By gathering all the material we need we can work faster on the shredder and extrusion machine. Welding machine, cut-off saw, grinder, ear protector are our best friends.
Here is a picture of our shredder with its motor and reducor (to attempt the 70t/m requested and shred the plastic without breaking the machine)
We put tanks in some restaurants of the island to collect the plastic, for the moment only straws and bottle caps. We are starting step by step to collect trashes !
